Change the system everyone depends on, without stopping the business

Many organisations run on a core system built years ago. It is slow and hard to change, and everyone complains about it. Nobody is confident enough to replace it, so it stays and holds the business back.

Most attempts to fix this are planned as technical projects. In my experience, the technical part is rarely what makes them fail. They fail because the organisation does not commit to the change, the money runs out halfway, and teams are still organised around the old system. My work is to help leaders deal with those problems as well as the architecture.
